Ingredients

Cold Brew Concentrate (makes 2–4 servings)

  • 100g coarsely ground coffee (medium-dark or dark roast)
  • 800ml cold filtered water

Per Serving

  • 100–150ml cold brew concentrate
  • 150–200ml milk, oat milk, or half-and-half
  • Ice
  • Optional: 1 tsp simple syrup, vanilla extract, or cinnamon

Instructions

1

Combine coffee and water

Add 100g of coarsely ground coffee to a mason jar, French press, or dedicated cold brew pitcher. Pour 800ml of cold filtered water over the grounds. Stir gently to wet all the coffee.

2

Steep 12–18 hours

Cover the container and refrigerate. Steep time: 12 hours for lighter extraction, 16–18 hours for stronger concentrate. Room temperature steeping is faster (8–12hr) but requires more monitoring.

3

Strain the concentrate

Place a fine mesh strainer lined with a paper coffee filter over a clean jar. Pour the cold brew through slowly. Don't press or squeeze the grounds — just let gravity pull the liquid through. Discard the grounds.

4

Store the concentrate

Cold brew concentrate keeps in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks. Label with the date.

5

Build the latte

Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour 100–150ml of cold brew concentrate over the ice (more = stronger). Slowly pour 150–200ml milk over the top. Stir gently, add sweetener if using, and serve.

Milk Options

MilkResult
Whole milkCreamy, rich — the classic. Pairs beautifully with medium-dark cold brew.
Oat milk (full-fat)Slightly sweet, very smooth. The most popular dairy-free option. Barista oat milk froths well.
Half-and-halfVery rich and indulgent. Less volume, more cream. For a true coffee shop texture.
Almond milkLight, slightly nutty. Thinner than oat. Lower calorie option.
Coconut milkRich and distinctly tropical. Works especially well with naturally-processed beans.

Flavor Variations

Vanilla Cold Brew Latte

Add ½ tsp pure vanilla extract or 1 tbsp vanilla simple syrup to the glass before adding concentrate.

Brown Sugar Cold Brew

Dissolve 1 tsp brown sugar in 1 tbsp hot water. Add to glass before building the latte.

Cinnamon Cold Brew

Add a pinch of cinnamon to the grounds before steeping, or stir into the finished drink.

Cold Brew Horchata

Use horchata (rice milk + cinnamon) instead of regular milk. Sweet, creamy, and unexpected.

Cold Brew Beans from Roast

Brazilian natural medium-dark and Colombian medium — both excellent for cold brew concentrate. Freshly roasted, shipped with roast date.
